Aileen Kelly, also known as Millie Gibson, is an independent singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the West-Country. Her music is deeply personal and reflective, and she is a vivid storyteller who uses imagery to illustrate her songwriting. Her sound continues to evolve and diversify, with influences from jazz, soul, blues and gospel. With an uncompromising approach to the authenticity of her music, Aileen Kelly possesses a style and attitude that is not to be underestimated. She studied artist development at music college in Bristol before moving to London aged 19. She started working in nursing during the pandemic, and her music became an escape from the reality she found herself living in. She worked on an unreleased project in Bootle, Liverpool, and started top line writing and vocal sessions for other artists around the country.
At the start of 2023 she was awarded a place on the ‘In the Making’ artist development programme, which works in partnership with the ‘Ivors Academy’.She was mentored by producer ‘Cassel the Beatmaker’ and artists ‘Liam Bailey’ and ‘J Farrukh’.She continues to work along side the ITM project and is now a songwriting mentor for young artists. She has recorded a new project, which is launching in 2025, that pays homage to the people who have helped in her musical journey, and to establish her new musical identity - ‘Aileen Kelly’.
